Fellowship Project: Blog Posting After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here: Discuss: o Discuss what happened on Pentecost when the disciples yielded to the Holy Spirit. What will happen if we yield to Him? 1. The Holy Spirit is the Master of the spirit realm, which means He is the Master of prayer. How does having the Best of the best dwelling in us impact our prayer life? What should our response to the Holy Spirit always be?
2. We, like the disciples in Acts 2, are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be a witness for Jesus. What does this look like in everyday life?
3. According to Galatians 5:16, as we yield to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, we abandon the cravings of our self-life. Discuss our responsibility to yield in this process. How does this inward process transfer to outward behavior and freedom from worldly vices?
4. What is the difference between self-help or striving to change yourself versus yielding to the Holy Spirit's transformation? How can you tell the difference? 5. Romans 2:4 expresses that it is the kindness of God that leads us to repentance. Discuss the difference between doing what's right because you love Him versus fear of punishment. How does receiving the love of God motivate you to live?
On the day Pentecost was being fulfilled, all the disciples were gathered in one place. Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent
blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm.
The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them. They
were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and were inspired to speak in tongues—empowered by the Spirit to speak in languages they had never learned!
Acts 2:1-4 TPT
DISCUSSION:
This week we will discuss the One who will lead you and guide you in prayer, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Master of his realm, which is the spirit realm. Imagine speaking to an expert in any field; you'd want to talk to the best of the best. Well, the Spirit of God is the Best of the best for the spirit realm, which means He is also the Master of prayer. He is the One Who will lead and guide you. When we yield to Him, we are yielding to the Best.
Acts 2:4 states that the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost. What happened there was that He came and filled Jesus' disciples with power from on high, which equipped them to be witnesses for Him. In other words, they were empowered by the Spirit to be bold, to stand up and proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ. They spoke other languages which they previously did not know. People were gathered from all over the world who spoke different languages during that feast of Pentecost. When they heard their language, they were perplexed because they knew these people were Galileans who could not speak those languages (Acts 2:5-12). What happened on the day of Pentecost was profound.
YIELD TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Notice that when the day of Pentecost came, the disciples were in one accord and yielded to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit manifested Himself through the shaking of the building like an earthquake, a mighty rushing wind, and tongues of fire on their heads. They started to speak in tongues as they were given utterances. All of them were in one accord. The scripture expressed that they appeared drunk; there was so much power in that room that they wobbled around (Acts 2:13). Peter had to explain to the people who thought the disciples were drunk that they were not, since it was only 9 AM (Acts 2:14-16). Because they yielded to the Holy Spirit, the divine manifestation transformed their lives.
If we were more yielded to the Holy Spirit, we would experience more supernatural encounters when we gather. I know this for a fact. While so many people are praying for revival, they don't realize the Holy Spirit of revival is here already, ready and wanting to meet people's needs. He wants to do the same today that He did on the Day of Pentecost. He has not changed a bit. The same Spirit that came on the day of Pentecost is the One that is inside of us right now. The potential of what took place on Pentecost is not only with us, but in us if we would just yield to the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost to give us power. Jesus promised His disciples that they would receive power from on high, so they waited for that endowment because of His command (Acts 1:8). We are also to receive the Holy Spirit and power from on high. But what was the purpose of this power? Jesus explained that the Holy Spirit would come to empower them as witnesses of the Lord so that they would testify about Jesus to everyone. The boldness of the Spirit gives us that utterance, authority, and confidence.

THE DYNAMIC LIFE
As you yield freely and fully to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self-life.
—Galatians 5:16 TPT
Practically speaking, we are all trying to do the right thing. We all try to be good and holy. However, even though we try our best to live right, we constantly fight the flesh and our minds. In addition to empowering us to witness, the Holy Spirit actually causes us to live a dynamic life, as Paul states in Galatians 5:16. This dynamic, powerful life has to do with yielding to the Holy Spirit. This verse explains that as we yield freely to the Holy Spirit in us, Who gives dynamic life and power, it will cause us to "abandon the cravings of the self-life." The answer to all addictions, cravings, the love of money, the lust of the eyes, and the lust of the flesh is yielding to the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16 provides the solution to overcome every situation.
But if the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Romans 8:11-13
Think about the reality that we have the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us that resurrected Jesus from the dead. Paul said that the same power is dwelling in us and will to put to death the misdeeds of the body, according to Romans 8:11-13. The Holy Spirit also gives life to our mortal body. As you "put to death" the misdeeds of the flesh, you will abandon the cravings of your self-life. So you're going to abandon the flesh, selfishness, self-gratification, addictions, all the comforts you crave, and all worldly passions, which are part of the fallen, sinful world.
How do we crucify the flesh and leave that old life? Well, it's not just by forcing ourselves to have good behavior. Self-help tactics that teach you to trick yourself into doing something right do not work.
